You get what you think you are going to getPosted: June 25, 2008 at 1:34 pm | byFiled under: Adventures in Mommahood Ok, so I am a serious believer that you get in this world what you put out. Act as a giver, you will get in return. Act selfishly all the time and people tend not to spring forth to help you. Before I go on..I must remind many of the moms who are reading this that taking a bath at the end of the day or some quiet time or treating yourself to a nap or a pedi is NOT selfish..it’s preservation. I digress. Let me tell you about our flight yesterday so you can see where I am coming from.B and I are first to board. It is 5:30 am. SIDE NOTE:why I thought that penning my 19 month old on a plane for an EXTRA 20 min was a good idea by pre-boarding I do not know. :) Anyway, we got to see – and hear- all the passengers as they boarded. That is actually B’s favorite part cause there is so much action. A woman entered the plane with a “I can’t believe how small this plane is!” and continued down the aisle loudly complaining about HOW FAR back she was. Let’s get some perspective here ..there are only 12 rows on this plane so even the tail isn’t THAT far back. She flopped into her seat just behind me and proclaimed “there is no way I will catch my flight back here!” Did I mention that there are ONLY 12 ROWS in the plane! Then looked at the 3 kids towards the back of the plane (Briggs included) and made stage whispered how she was “stuck back here with all these kids” Wow..she is making friends all over the world with that attitude! Short story long due (sorry..you know how I like to ramble Karma. – nuf said. Meanwhile, Briggs and I had a great day even though it was long. My belief is that it is because we go through our day pretty darn happy and don’t whine – especially during travel days like yesterday – and things just sorta fall into place. Thanks for listening! Off to do some work and then a swim The Balancing ActPosted: June 23, 2008 at 9:42 am | byFiled under: Adventures in Mommahood, About Me So many of my faithful readers know that I do what I can to try and maintain a balance between my roles as a Momma, Wife and Chief Momma. I set timelines for when I can and can’t work (nap time vs. before naps). But sometimes..that just Falls to PIECES! Yes, I will admit that I am standing over a pile of laundry typing this draft waiting for the cycle to end so I can switch it over quickly before taking the conference call I have scheduled. I need to get us packed (small trip dont worry..your boxes will be shipped That will probably not happen. So wish me luck. Gotta run! Erin The power of SILENCE!Posted: June 19, 2008 at 1:14 am | byFiled under: Adventures in Mommahood, About Me Ok, I could go on about the multiple meanings to that title :) But today..one situation comes to mind. It is 6:45 am. Not a peep from Briggs. Ahh..we get to sleep in a bit! I can’t even begin to describe how amazing this feeling is..lying in bed..waking up to my own schedule..no cries or playful “Maaaammmaaasss” to be heard. mmmmm. THEN..my husband wakes up. He proudly announces “WOW B is STILL SLEEPING.. Isn’t that great?! Shh..he might hear you! Then he goes on “Well..I am going to hop into the shower” Shhh..he WILL hear you with that voice. (BTW, don’t you typically need at least a cup or 2 of coffee to sound that jovial?!) Awake, I slink into my office…past Briggs’ door…ever so quiety. I figure I can blog a bit, check my email..you know..wake up on my own terms. ”Hey hon, does this tie goe with my shirt?” SHHHH! He slinks away..now afraid for his life as I am actually starting to enjoy this moment of early morning bliss. On his way out of the office, my dear sweet hubby trips over the red bucket in the middle of the floor..swears..and wakes the baby. Oh, the power of silence is fleeting. I finish my email, give my hubby a frustrated look (sorry S, I hadn’t had my coffee!..I so didn’t mean it (sorta Well..at least I got to wake up on my own :) We can’t have EVERYTHING! The day went great..I did get a few extra zzzzs and heck..I am a momma. I don’t totally expect to get to sleep in for YEARS. But a gal can hope Enjoy an extra cup of coffee this morning and know every moment gives us something to laugh about! -Chief Momma (0)commentsNew Saying from Lots 2 Say Baby! - “No Comment”Posted: June 9, 2008 at 10:21 am | byFiled under: Cool Product Reviews Perfect for the future Lawyer or Celebrity! Erin Chief Momma (0)commentsMotherhood Lesson #5356 - Do NOT lay down for “just a min” at 7pm!Posted: June 3, 2008 at 1:27 am | byFiled under: Adventures in Mommahood Ok, long title..I know. But that is it..that’s my lesson to all of you. Here I sit staring at my monitor after 1 1/2 hours of tossing and turning. The culprit? .. a small “I will just lay down for a minute” turned 90 minute nap at 7pm. WHY did I think this was not going to keep me from getting sleep tonight?! I guess I really thought I could “catch up” on sleep that I was missing but umm..when was the last time YOU went to bed at 7pm and basically slept through the night. If you can answer that question you are so totally way lucky. 1. It means you have actually had the rare opportunity to “lay down for just a min” at 7 any time recently. This is such a rarity for me that it is no surprise that I was so dumb to think it wouldn’t totally mess with my sleep. 2. Your children, husband and all of other life forms disappeared recently to give you a much needed break and you took the opportunity to totally crash instead of catching up on tivo’d episodes of Gossip Girls (Yes, I watch it..I am so embarrassed Night Everyone - wish me luck!
