Elizabeth Davies wrote a great article about the driving skills mom all share!  This hit my funny bone particularly because I could relate to each “move” she described!  http://bit.ly/B3Mxi

If you find yourself doing the Arched Back Pacifier Grab too be sure to check out my life saving finds - the PaciGrip and the SippiGrip at www.Booginhead.com.  Briggs loved to throw sippi cups and always through a fit when he ‘lost’ the cup..and I didn’t love being in the head with a cup :)  The SippiGrip and PaciGrip keeps their necessities right in hands reach - and they can still play the ‘throw’ gam!

Available at Babies R Us, Amazon and boutiques around the country!

I LOVE getting mail from our customers.  It is so exciting to hear how much their son or daughter loves their pacifiers!

Here is an excerpt and picture from one of our fans. THANK YOU for sharing Nicole!

Ok so my son LOVES your pacifiers. I saw them on sale for a 2 pack at Target. I love the sayings so I grabbed one pack (there was only 3 packs left). Low and behold my son LOVES your pacifiers. I should have bought all the packs. I dont know what kind you print on but now he wont take any other pacifier besides his Hi or No Comment. I have given him his old one he has used since birth-Spits it out. Gave him a couple other brands-Spits them out. Now I am having a heck of a time finding more Lots To Say. I attached  pictures of Riley and his No Comment paci

Thanks again for such a fun baby product…You wouldnt believe the smiles they bring =)

Jurnee Products - Celebrate the transitions in life

Earth friendly materials and fun yet simple designs make the Jurnee products perfect for new siblings and new moms!

I met these two friends turned entrepenuers at 2 of the NW Enterprising Moms events this year.  Beside being just about the nicest people on the planet (they will enter into an engaging conversation - even when they are REALLY REALLY busy :) ) they also have transformed their passion into a product that is well made and thoughtful while still being fun.

New Mama Kit

The New Mama Kit launched this year and is a PERFECT shower gift or just because a Mama deserves some spoiling!  Each kit has a bag -5 seriously cute designs to choose from! - stocked full of:

  • a box of four (4) Theo (TM) chocolates, Seattle’s premier organic chocolatier
  • a custom blend “Mama Warrior” tea for those sleepless nights
  • a short book of Words of Wisdom with advice and anecdotes from other mamas
  • a tin of french lavender-scented bath salts
  • a fabric covered photo album, perfect for toting photos of the new baby
  • a lavender, flax seed and rice pad that can be heated in the microwave, perfect for soothing an aching back or a c-section scar
  • Did I mention this was a great gift?  I will be sure to let the world know when #2 comes - remember this :) LOL

The Big Brother and Big Sister kits and gift sets are where the “Jurnee began”- and they are SO cute (without being over the top crazy cutesy..classic Seattle understated cute in fact :) ).  My friends better start having MORE kids so I can spoil their siblings with these sweet sets.

My favorite is the Siblings Sprouted Gift Set.

    Siblings Sprouted Gift Set

Check this out - the big brother or sister gets an organic T that says “Seedling” and the new baby gets a “Sprout” T!  How seriously cute is that!? Also included in the gift set is a pack of seeds with planting instructions to commemorate this exciting transition. All packed up and ready for giving.  What sibling duo would not want this?!

So support a Momma or two out and go buy this latest find.  You won’t be sorry!

To Dine or Not to Dine?!

Filed under: Cool Product Reviews, Adventures in Mommahood

Yesterday I was faced with this very question and found myself laughing a bit at just how much my husband and I have turned into THAT couple in the 16 months since our son was born.

    What am I talking about?

Eating out in places other than Red Robin, Q-doba and Chilis with a child.

My husband had a bit of a rough day yesterday so Briggs and I piled in the car to surprise him at work with a snack and a hug.  It was pretty close to quitting time so he decided to come home with us.  Having that extra time is always a treat so we were thrilled - and my hubby started to feel better.  After a quick stop at Target and USPS (yep, I got your orders out in time :) ) we were all in great moods..but getting hungry.

Our fav restaurant - Jaks - was down the street.  Normally there is a 3 hr wait but it was Monday.  We were feeling festive and in the mood to have a nice meal.

Armed with 3 Sippi Grips to tether the toys and cups that threatened to become projectiles at any moment, a glass of Rutherford Ranch, and our now fraying copy of “I love you Stinky Face” we sat down to a wonderful dinner.

    Our son was an angel!

Ok, to us he was.  :)  I can’t speak for the couple next to us celebrating their anniversary or the business meeting going on but oh well.   But we were very proud of him!

I run the line on this one.  As a singleton I would have basically been horrified with myself - looking down my martini glass and scoffing.  Now that I have a sweet angel of my own I am not ready to give it ALL up..I mean..I can only have SO MANY crispy chicken salads with a balloon tied to the back of my chair.

We left pleasantly full (Ok, I was STUFFED :) ), I felt true pride and love for not only our little guy but my sweet husband who sat across from me laughing and smiling with us as we enjoyed a very nice family meal.  We had made the right decision..for us.

Dad and Briggs at dinner together

    3 confessions

    1. Our little angel was in fact allowed to play with Dad’s Blackberry during dinner as long as he did not call 911 (again)

    2. I was a total dork and took this photo with my Blackberry at dinner because I was so excited to be out..yep..I am that Momma :)

    3. I felt WAY BETTER after we ran into our sweet friends - with their 2 1/2 year old on the way out.  We are not the ONLY ones who get it..I knew they were our friends for a reason :)

Mom Spit - a modern miracle to mommahood

    Posted: March 16, 2008 at 1:27 pm | by
    Filed under: Cool Product Reviews

I swore I would NEVER lick my thumb to wipe off schmootz from my child’s face!  It was one of those foundational “when I have kids I will never..” statements I made with my girlfriends while sipping cocktails in the bar of our fav restaurant while looking down at the pit of craziness know as the “family friendly section” of the restaurant.

Well as you probably already know from reading this Blog - the nevers mostly turn into “I hope I won’t’s” or “I rarely do” and NEVER is a pretty big word!

    -BUT-

Now I CAN say NEVER to ”lick the finger to clean the face” - all thanks to Mom Spit.  Yep, you read right.  This little miracle in a bottle is my savior from sticky jelly faces.  I actually wrote this post from 30k feet up on our way to FL to see Grandma and Grandpa.  The seatbelt light is on and my cherub (though now sleeping) finished a sticky donut (no comments on the nutritional choice - we are travelling :) ) and we had no way to wash his hands.  Sure wet wipes are ok but they are not as easy as to grab as my Mom Spit and the foamy substance is nicer on faces.   It is not a gel or an alcohol based sanitizer and it absorbs quickly and feels great.

The bottle comes in a small size so you can carry it on the plane and the shape is easy to find in the diaper bag.  To find your own little miracle bottle you can visit their site www.momspit.com for locations or go to www.NannyDeprived.com!

Thank you Kim Dixon and Lucie Hunter for inventing SUCH A GREAT NECCESSITY!

Shlumpadinkas UNITE - then fix it!

    Posted: February 21, 2008 at 11:51 am | by
Filed under: Cool Product Reviews, Adventures in Mommahood

Ok, I admit I am an occasional Oprah watcher.  I never seem to be caught up on my Tivo so I watch out for the shows I JUST HAVE TO SEE.  Yesterdays was IT!  The Shlumpadinka transformation show.    I have somewhere along the way become a shlumpadinka!  OMG!  Take this quiz and see if you have too.

Do you categorize your sweats as “around the house, going out and dress?  - OMG I DO  how embarrassing!  In fact, I am wearing my dress sweats now..I have to look good at the gym right?

Do you wear clothes with elastic waist bands? -  not actually so bad at this..actually, that is a lie..since my sweats have become my fav item.

Can your jeans actually be categorized as “acid washed”? - uh oh.  AND they are either too short or too long.  Ugh!  I need to find a perfect pair of jeans.

If you answered any of these questions make a vow with me RIGHT NOW to fix it.  Start by checking out Oprah’s tips on de-shlumpifying.  http://www.oprah.com/beauty/fashion/slide/20080220/fashion_20080220_103.jhtmlThen go do something about it.  My favorite part was that everything featured did not cost very much money.  There were a few spendy items but most were very reasonable..AND the list was not that long.  Just a few basics to tie your look together.

So, since shopping is a bit challenging with my son I am going to make a date to do something about this while my MIL is here visiting or perhaps when I am in Fl next month.  Plus it will be fun to have a little shopping excursion with someone other than B :)

    Shlumpadinka is GONEShlumpadinka
